defying gravity.

Hello! I'm Rachel Berry :D I'm 22 years old. I live in New York, New York (finally!) and just finished earning my degree in musical theatre at NYADA. I live with my best friends Kurt and Blaine, and I'm proudly taken by the very handsome, very talented, Evan Fitzpatrick. We play small gigs at night clubs and restaurants together often as I still put effort towards my Broadway dreams. I hope you enjoy my blog! Please feel free to ask me anything :D

Lauren returned the hug and let it go “Of course, here’s my card” she handed a card with all Lauren’s info “Wow, that feels too professional.” she laughed “But anyways, my new adress is right there. Stop there any time.”

“Fancy,” Rachel said, nodding and smiling as if she were impressed. “Awesome. Alright, I’ll see you later, Lauren. I’m so happy to see you again.” She gave her one more hug before finally letting her friend go to leave to her new apartment. “Bye!” Rachel decided she’d stay at Starbucks and call Evan to meet her there.

Finishing her drink, Lauren took her phone out of her purse and look at the time “Rach, I wish I could stay longer, but I need to do some errands.” she told her friend as she stood up “It was really nice to see you again, and I’m definitely down for a party in NYC.”

“Of course,” Rachel said, standing up with her. “It was great seeing you again, too,” Rachel agreed with a smile. “Great, I’ll keep you posted.” She smiled again and gave Lauren a hug. “And you have to show me the new apartment, right?”

“I’m sure we will have lots of fun.” Lauren said and took another sip of her drink “Rachel’s parties always tend to be the most surprisingly great.” she teased her friend. “And you’ll have to show me the city around a bit, too.”

Rachel laughed. “Yeah, I can party a bit when I want to,” she said, smiling. “But I’ve gotten better. I don’t get too crazy when I’m drunk like I used to,” she said. She nodded. “Of course. You can count on me!”

Lauren noticed how Rachel reacted with the whole conversation, for both of them talking about that reminded them of someone in special, that they both wanted to try to forget. At least Lauren wanted to, but couldn’t. “Well, that’s part of life I guess. I’m just glad to be here, and seeing you guys again.” she added with a smile.

Rachel forced a believable wide smile, trying to cover up that way too obvious moment of solemnness. “I’m so happy you’re here! We’re going to have so much fun.” She grinned. Her life in New York was just as fun as she expected, and she couldn’t wait to get Lauren in on all of it.

You got your answer Lauren, now move on. He probably did the same thing she thought as she heard Rachel says his name, and reached for her necklace, where the ring was. Lauren never had the courage to be apart from it, but maybe it was time to do it “Yeah, Sam and Mercedes are in Cali… I think they are the only ones I kept exchanging emails every now and then, but apart from them, and you guys I haven’t talked to anyone either.”

“Yeah, it’s unfortunate…” Rachel said, trailing off. All of this talk about keeping in touch with old high school friends got Rachel thinking…but she kept trying to stop thinking about it, from what she could see her mind was going. “But, I guess it’s just all about moving on. You can’t hold on to those years.” She looked down at her coffee, but noticed she was going too deep in thought. She looked up at Lauren and smiled a bit, taking another sip of her coffee.

Lauren took a sip of her drink while Rachel talked, and then, a gap to ask her friend the question she was going insane to know “I miss everyone, too. It’s kind of bad, but inevitable that we lost contact with everyone. But have you heard from anyone?”

“Yeah,” Rachel agreed. She shook her head. “No, not really. You, and of course Kurt and Blaine…” she said as she thought. “I’ve talked to Brittany a few times, even Santana once, Mercedes is in California…she’s with Sam still, I think, but I haven’t talked to her in a while…and like I told you, I saw Mr. Schue and Puck when they came for that talent showcase to support me,” she continued, only naming the people she ended high school on good terms with.

“Awn, I miss them as well.” she smiled at her friend, “They are made for each other, anyone can tell that just by looking at them.” she laughed along with Rachel “The third-wheel, but at least you have Evan, so you’re not always the third-wheel.” she laughed a little bit more.

Rachel smiled. “Yeah, they are,” she said. “They’re in it for the long run, I’m sure.” She nodded with Lauren, laughing a bit. “Yeah, that’s right,” she agreed. “I miss everyone, really. I’ve barely seen anyone, unfortunately.”

“I’d love to meet him. And he does sounds like a guy for you, Rach. And I can see you’re happy with him, which makes me really happy too.” she said with a smile, she remembered how good it was to be with someone you love. Her smile was started to fade away with the memory, but Lauren shook the thought away, and kept her smile, she was seeing her friend after so long, it wasn’t the time to be thinking about him. It has been too long.

“Aw, thanks, Lauren,” she said, smiling sweetly. Considering high school was such a rocky time for her, Rachel always tried to keep from talking about the past if she could help it. She had to admit that seeing Lauren again did bring back some memories, but she tried to block them as best she could. “Oh yeah, and Kurt and Blaine! They’re still very much in love. “I live with them,” she said. “I’m like a third-wheel.” She laughed a bit. “I am, actually.”

“Wicked? That’s amazing, Rach.” she said with a big smile on her face. It was a bit strange for Lauren, it seemed like yesterday that they were on high school, at their senior year, all getting nervous and excited about their future plans, back that time, a lot of drama was going on between all of them, but Lauren was glad to see that Rachel was doing great, and was in the path of making her dreams come true “I’ll pay a visit there, then. And I would love to see you sing. And this Evan guy, tell me about him.” she suggested to her friend keep telling about her life while she drank some of her coffee.

“It was nothing major, just a small, week-long run,” Rachel said with a smile. While she enjoyed the compliment, she didn’t want Lauren to think she was a big time artist yet. Rachel was in a genuinely happy place. Everything was looking up for her. She was definitely a lot happier than she was in high school, but those days were behind her. She barely ever thought of them. “Good and good,” she said with a smile. A smile slowly started to come to her face at the thought of Evan, her boyfriend. “Well, his name is Evan Fitzpatrick,” she started. “I met him at NYADA, and we’ve been dating for almost a year now, I think. He plays piano and guitar…he sings…and he’s…he’s amazing.” She smiled wide. “You’ll have to meet him sometime.”

“For what they’ve told me, I would be one of the main photographer’s assistants. And we will be basically doing photoshoots for magazines such as Elle, Vanity Fair, Vogue and some others. Not only famous people and models, but things for the articles and stuff, and that’s when I come in. The photos for the articles I’ll be the one taking them, mostly. And after a while, I might be able to be one of the main photographers.” she told her friend “I’m really excited about it. This photo studio, it’s one of the biggest in the world, and having my name printed out in magazines will help my carrer take off, you know.” she explained “But enough about me, tell me how is your musical theather life going.”

“Wow, Lauren, that’s amazing. You should be excited. I’m so happy for you,” she said smiling and taking a sip of her coffee. “Well…the musical theatre is slow,” she admitted. “I just finished a small production of Wicked here where I played Elphaba, but I haven’t done much recently. I’ve been trying for Broadway, but I haven’t gotten anything yet. But I’ve only auditioned for maybe two musicals there since graduating from NYADA a few months ago,” she said. “For now, I’ve been doing gigs with Evan. We just had one last night at this restaurant called Gia’s — which, by the way, is fantastic. You should try it some time.” She paused and thought to keep from rambling. “But I think that’s about it. No Broadway for me. Yet.” She smiled.
